Kinsman Redeemer

This is another story I wrote in my religious days, and the allegory – to me – was obvious. It’s a story of dreams, family, and misplaced devotion. It’s also a story of sacrifice. Sometimes, it’s only within the deepest hurt that we can find eternal love.

Twins are fascinating, and they are beautiful. They share a special bond that even science can’t explain, and when this bond is broken, it’s a tragedy beyond redemption.

Many indigenous societies were scared of multiple births, and they treated them barbarically. But other societies accepted them, and even had naming systems for them – Apiyo and Odongo, Kulwa and Doto. This is a story of time before time, when blessings and curses were much intertwined, and where your greatest joy was also your greatest sorrow. To know how far we’ve gone, we have to see where we’ve come from.
